3 things we learned from Chelsea's draw with Burnley
Burnley equalized Chelsea
in the 93rd minute after Zian Flemming scored his goal, making the game draw
1-1. Burnley are one of the bottom three teams in the English Premier League.
Liam Rosenior's team scored
in the 4th minute of the game after Joao Pedro his 11th premier
league goal of this season.
However, the situation
became more difficult for Chelsea after Wesley Fofana was shown his second
yellow card (red card) in the 72nd minute for a serious foul on James
Ward-Prowse.
This result was very
disappointing for Chelsea, as they lost 2 points. Therefore, the following 3
things we learned from game.
1. 1. Importance of Caicedo
Despite failing to
maintain their lead, Moises Caicedo's performance impressed Rosenior, and he
was the best player of the game.
The Ecuadorian's best
performance came after he made a brilliant through pass to Pedro Neto, who in
turn assisted Joa Pedro's goal, who easily scored from close range and giving
Chelsea the lead in the 4th minute.
2. 2. Chelsea'a Player Discippline effect
Chelsea was in their longest premier league games in this season
without a red card, but that ended when Fofana fouled Ward-Prowse and showed
red card.
The serious foul resulted in Fofana being given a second
yellow card, making him the first player to be sent off under Rosenior's manager.
The Blue head coach put his hands on his head after when
the referee showed red card to Fofana, showing how disappointed he was with the
red card.
This was Chelsea's ninth red card of the season, the most by
a Premier League team in a single campaign. Six of those red cards have come in
the Premier League.
This red card highlighted the problem of players’ discipline
affecting Chelsea, which has often forced them to finish games with 9 players or
less.
3. 3. Chelsea losses two points again
As the final whistle blew,
it was officially confirmed that Chelsea had lost 19 points this season while
leading the league. 17 of those points were lost at home.
